truck heads start your engines; it's truckin' time!

---

made for the 2023 unofficial Melbourne independent game-a-week series in response to the theme "weird input".

this game requires a specific kind of mouse in order to play. please download and read the instructions before playing.

i might add to this in the future (more levels, sound, UI, etc), but at the moment i don't really have the time so don't get ya hopes up.

if you have a good idea for a name lemme know cos atm all i got is "ultimate heads trucking" which is funny but maybe too bombastic... i'll probably just call it "zach's truckin'" or sth idk

---

this game was made with Godot v3.5.1 + Trenchbroom (using the Qodot add-on), and was textured with resources from ambientcg (go sign up for their patreon).

regarding the linux build: i don't have a linux machine so if it doesn't work then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i am sorry

incredible game, the craziest part is that the controls are actually kinda intuitive? how did you even come up with this

this game is really good but why is the looking inverted? This game has a good idea but the looking is very difficult and maybe add some more levels

Though you've heard my comments directly: It's nice to play a game that uses everything on the mouse! The scrollwheel is the most underappreciated PC input we've got.

As for title, something like 'Z.C. Truck' comes to mind, though I have a particular taste for initials right now. Could be fun to pitch it like a 'John Madden Football' thing, and treat the title, at least, as if your name is implicitly understood. 'Zachariah Chandler Truck'. Suddenly, and maybe less usably, the name 'Zachariah Chandler's Truck Dancer' comes to mind. Or 'Zachariah Chandler's Truck Wrangler'? For purposes of spoken-feel, having a 1 syllable word right in the middle, thereby matching the syllable length of Zachariah, would be good. So 'Zachariah Chandler's Big Truck Dancer'. Feels very in the tradition of 'Big Rigs: Over The Road Racing', which can't be a bad thing.

(For the record, this is Fen. Hello. :~) ).

Additionally, a number plate:

truck wrangler is so good.

zach chandler's truck wranglers !

i like the feel of it.

My logitech mouse did not work with this despite having the side buttons! I had to fetch a second mouse to be able to totally smash it and get that truck home.

Gosh my hand is tingling from nerves and focus. Was juuust forgiving enough that I felt in control but weird enough that I was terrified at all times. The little touches in this game really count. The fact that neutral is between Drive and Reverse despite being useless, seemingly just to annoy you when trying to do two point turns. Halfway through writing this I just saw in the tutorial page that there were checkpoints.... Guess I'm just that gamer. Oh also, being able to stick ur head out is amazing. This rocks.

I would call it 'Truck Heck' huh? Who said that?
I would call it ' Trucker Stucker' cus u get stuck on stuff and it sounds like sucker. Idk don't use this it's bad.
